Leak Detection

Leak Detection

A leak within the home can be scary. Small leaks can quickly turn into big problems when they aren’t dealt with promptly. But not all leaks are straightforward. While it’s easy to tell where a leak around the toilet is originating from, it may not be as easy to tell where a leak in the walls is coming from.

Luckily, you don’t have to bring out your sledgehammers just yet - our Leamington Plumber team is here to help with our leak detection services.

Most Common Types Of Leaks

  • Slab Leaks

Slab leaks are pipe leaks that occur underneath concrete, most often under the basement floor. If a pipe leak occurs underneath this slab, it can spread throughout the foundation and cause a great deal of damage. Slab leaks are often exposed through wet drywall, wet carpet, mildew smells, visible damage, or increased water bills. Unfortunately, the location of the leak can be difficult to locate, and usually requires help from an experienced plumber.

  • Toilet Leaks

There’s several different things that can cause a leaky toilet. If you are noticing damp areas on the floor around your toilet, are noticing water marks on the ceiling in the room below your toilet, or are starting to smell sewage, there’s a good chance you have sprung a leak. Toilet leaks can lead to damaged floor boards, damaged ceilings, and damage to the structure of your home. They are not a leak that you want to ignore, so you should call a Leamington plumber as soon as you notice a leak to determine the root cause of the problem.

  • Water Heater Leaks

Like any other type of leak, water heater leaks can happen for many reasons. An old tank, a broken drain valve, too much pressure, cracks, sentiment collection - the list goes on and on. Some water heater leaks are simple repairs, while others may require replacement of your water heater. Our technicians are on standby to come by to diagnose and repair all of your water heater leak concerns. Call us today!

Signs of a Leak

You might be thinking, “wouldn’t I know if I had a leak?” And while the answer to this question is usually yes, it’s not always the case. Leaks can start under floors, in walls, and in other places that aren’t visible on outward appearances. But if you notice any of these things, you may have a leak:

  • Water bills that are higher than usual
  • Reduced water pressure
  • Water stains on your ceilings or floorboards
  • Mold and mildew buildup
  • Sagging ceilings
  • Blistering paint
  • Rusted pipes
  • Strange noises coming from your pipelines

What should you do if you suspect a leak?

Yes, you should call us. But before you even do that, turn off your water. Make sure water to all faucets, appliances, sinks, showers, tubs, toilets, and hoses are shut off. This will prevent more water damage from occurring until we can diagnose and repair the leak.

If you have any visible damage, be sure to take photos. You’ll want these later for evidence when working with your insurance company - who you should also be calling. Notifying your insurance company about the leak will ensure that they are aware of the issue and allow them time to help you.

Call us immediately! Before you take photos, before you call your insurance company - call us. We have a 24/7 emergency team available and can send a contractor to you immediately, day or night to diagnose and fix your leak problem.

Don’t wait for your leak to become a big problem. If you notice one, call us now!
