Toilet Clogs
A toilet clog isn’t the most pleasant thing to deal with. While it isn’t the worst thing that could ever happen in your home, it’s also not the most pleasant or sightly thing that could happen.
Luckily, most clogs are a simple fix and can be dealt with at home. A normal everyday plunger is enough to deal with most simple clogs. But sometimes clogs can be deeper or more difficult. When you can’t unclog your own toilet, give us a call and we can send our team to the rescue!
Our Leamington Plumbers can also deal with any other type of clogged drains that may be causing backup in sinks or other areas
What Causes Clogs?
The most common clogs that we see are generally in toilets. There’s lots of things that can cause toilet clogs - and there’s a reason that your mom always tells you not to flush wipes down the toilet! Wipes are one of the main causes that we see for toilet clogs. Other things that can clog your toilet include:
- Garbage
- Paper Towels
- Large amounts of toilet paper
- Toys and household items (often flushed by children)
- Q-tips
- Cotton Balls
- Feminine care products
Aside from the toilet, other drains in the house are commonly blocked by:
- Food scraps
- Hair
- Dirt and Debris
- Soap
- Mineral Buildup
- Grease, oil, and Fats
- Makeup

How Do We Fix Clogs?

Toilet Clogs
If your toilet is clogged, there’s a few things at home you can try before calling Leamington Plumbers. Your first go-to should always be your plunger. While this is a very basic tool, it’s still one of the best ways to unblock a clog.
If your plunger doesn’t work, you can also try some at home solutions. We never recommend using chemical solutions on your toilet, as they can be hazardous to your health without the proper safety precautions. Instead, try regular vinegar and baking soda.
Add 1 cup of baking soda to your toilet water and let it soak in for a few minutes. Then, add 2 cups of vinegar (slowly to avoid overflow). Let sit for a few more minutes and then try flushing your toilet. You can repeat this process a few times if needed.
If neither of these options work to unclog your toilet, it may be time to give us a call. Our plumbers may suggest other options to try at home, or may need to come and take a look themselves.

Drain Clogs
If you’re starting to notice a strange smell coming from your drains, or if you are having trouble emptying water, you may have a drain clog. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to use a plunger unless it’s for your toilet. You can, however, still try the vinegar and baking soda solution mentioned above.
If this doesn’t work, give our plumbing Leamington team a call and we can send someone out immediately to take a look.
